EuroRC Hobby Letter #7 /2021 - New RC Cars Insight

24.2.2021

Hello friends it's Heikki from EuroRC whats up! This happy new year is looking very happy! Hobby wise this on-going time is looks great as RC and other hands-on-hobbies are getting seemingly more popular. I'm delighted to notice that many people have a great variation of all kind of RC cars in their garage. When I look at the postings of fleets from FB or IG, I see that many of you have a serious racer or two, daily basher, Monster Truck, "that one truck that was once great but cannot find spares anymore"-truck, a scale crawler or two, few micros, "that one long time forever-project looking for inspriration" and of course vintage RC treasures from the past times!

There is no history without future. This is why today we take a quick but deep dive to latest selection of 2021 RC Cars and Trucks that have been literally rolling in to our shop here at Tervakoski, Finland! Quick reminder about the fact that what we have in stock here in our warehouse, we really do have in stock here in our warehouse. For you this means that what you see in our webshop is ready to ship immediately and not something like three months later.

XRAY SCX 1/10 2WD

One of the most interesting new competition level truck for 2021 is perhaps Xray SCX 1/10 Luxury Short Course 2wd Kit. Some of you may be bit confused here because they probably feel that the Short Course hype is done and long gone. These folks forget that Short Course racing (or CORR, depending of your preferences) has diluted to be mainstream and is one of the key elements of modern day RC racing. Instead of being forgotten it's perhaps more popular than ever before!

Now Xray does not bull around with their cars. SCX is made in Europe from industrial grade composite plastics, billet aluminum and high quality carbon fiber. No cheap bucket plastics here. SCX like all the other Xray kits is engineered beyond the limits and has huge fine tuning capability. You are for example able to set your differential to various heights to fine tune center of gravity depending on the track conditions, ride height and the size of the tires. With huge variety of tuning parts Team Xray is offering for SCX you can fiddle with streering angles, off-sets for wheels, caster angle and on and on! Check out all the specs and details here from Xray SCX 1/10 official presentation page! This Instrument of Winning is definitely for serious racing business only and if you are looking for something to jump off the roof we recommend you some of the following!

Team Corally 1/8 RTR Bashers and buggies

Team Corally is grabbing stronger hold from bashing market and pushing some heat for bigger players with their quality line of stunt trucks. They have refined their catalog of 1/8 bashing and racing cars for year 2021 and all the models have been updated to next generation. These top of the line trucks are overpowered and bullet fast but still very maneuverable on high speeds thanks to Team Corallys experience on the competition field. When we say "maneuverable" we really mean it, these are blade sharp when it comes to steering.

Chassis and shock towers are always from aluminum and plastics used are modern day composites. They are also easy to maintenance thanks again to competition success of Team Corally. These are waterproof also as modern day truck should be!

So whats the difference between these mad brothers? Are they monsters or buggies or what? Short wheelbase (SWB) trucks include Dementor and Jambo. These hold their explosive power in small package and are the perhaps the most entertaining stunt trucks in the market today! Pure good old bashing fun here!

Longer wheelbase (LWB) trucks are Shogun, Kronos and Muraco. Aside the smashing them around these are more for speed runs and big air long jumps. Kronos here is maybe the most of the classic bashing monster truck style of truck. You can easily get over 100km/h with these and they still hold their grip to the surface. Powerful 25kg stock servo makes them also turn but it requires that the front wheels are touching the ground.

Buggies include Radix 6S and Python 6S. They have same oversized powerhouses than stunt trucks above but fit better for track conditions. These have more tuning options to suit your local bashing spot I mean off road racing track as these buggies here are also competition legal.

Team Corally is also offering a wide selection of "generals" and "essentials" including shock and differential oils, tools, electronics, accessories, batteries, screws, nuts and the list goes on. What ever you need in your RC hobby always check out what they have to offer. Quality is not really an issue of any kind when choosing Team Corally.

Team Corally Radix 4S

Aside the evil cousins with bigger muscles, I want to lift this fine buggy that was released few weeks ago up a bit. Radix 4S holds the same exellent build quality than all the other Corallys cars but is equipped with a bit more budget friendly set of electronics. Never the less, Radix 4S is a full blooded, competition ready 1/8 buggy that has everything needed start your promising off-road racing career.

HPI RS4 Sport 3 - 1987 BMW E30 Warsteiner

We welcome HPI Racing back to the arena! Many people think that they are already dead and growing moss but this was never really true. HPI is one of the big traditional brands of RC and has earned their immortal place in the RC Hall of Fame. I still run my old HPI Blitz, have few of them for spare and will keep bashing it until the end of all times. I've never had any bigger issues with HPI stuff so seeing them making a comeback makes me happy!

Platform of RS4 may be familiar to you folks. Why invent wheel again when you have something very good already in your hands? RS4 Sport 3 features a completely sealed and highly efficient shaft drivetrain, coilover shock absorbers plus waterproof electronics. The fully contained drivetrain means there are no exposed gears, belts or drivetrain parts to get stuck with rocks or dirt. Proven to be durable platform and as being around for some time it has lots of upgrades and aftermarket pieces available along the regular spare parts.

BMW fans should be stoked of beautiful looks this Touring car has. It captures the livery of 1987 version of legendary M30 and more precise the look of Roberto Ravaglias winning "Warsteiner". I am still pondering if I should get one of these as it looks cool as hell and I do not have any BMW's in my garage. Yet!

HPI has also been pushing their famous on-road bodies back to market, check out here it's pretty cool selection what they have!

FTX Outback Texan 1:10 Trail Truck Crawler

FTX seems to be getting really in to the serious crawling business now. Outback and Outback 2 have been very popular (one of our most sold trucks actually!) and have been the first step to get deeper in to crawler world for many.

Comparing to the "old" Outback - what is still very powerful player in the budget crawler market - Texan is totally different in basically everything. Build quality is top, chosen materials are rigid and it has compeletely new powertrain. The motor is now placed in front and reduction gear lays in the middle just like the real trucks have. Driveshafts are metal and rear suspension is interesting cantilever style of setup.

Texan has its battery placed in the front for better weight balancing and servo is mounted in the chassis. Overall this trail truck is very promising as it's holding huge potential when it comes to getting over obstacles. Materials used are upgraded to meet modern standards and over all the "feel" of this truck is totally on the new level compared to olders versions of Outbacks. If you are looking to head for crawling competitions this coming summer Texan is a great choice as it holds fair amount of scale points straight out of the box. Body itself captures the look of performance-style built 50's style flatbed off-road truck with roll cage and theme accurate details. Oh and it has lights! Looking forward to see these in the trails next coming season!

FTX Torro 1:10 Trophy Truck

This truck is fun! I know I tested it with my kids and they loved it! FTX Torro (or Zorro, depending of your geological coordinates) may at first look like another short course truck but underneath is nothing like that. Being a true Trophy Truck it has solid axle in the rear and IFS (Independent Front Suspension) setup in the front. This means that the rear axle has more space to move downward to keep the rear traction steady especially in the hills and jumps. It also makes the car behave more like it's real life counterparts.

This budget friendly Trophy Truck comes Ready-to-Run with brushed motor that make it easy to handle even for beginners. I am are sure that even the most experienced driver will find out that this ZorroTorro here is very entertaining to bash around. Insane fact from the bigger world has that FTX is offering a nitro powered version of this truck too! If I would be looking modern day truck for backyard business or for someone who is just getting interested about RC, I would recommend this one here and stand behind my words.

Some time ago I was looking to get in to competion side of RC and was asking for recommendations about a new 2WD comp ready buggy. Thanks for the feedback, I have now chosen the Xray XB2D'21 - 1/10 Off-Road Car 2WD - Dirt Edition to be my winning car of the season -21! Oh but it has to be built first and building the kits is just something what I could do everyday! Next week we will perhaps unbox that beauty and start building! Podium and pit girls here I come!

Members Rides Highlight time! Last week I told you stories about JConcepts, remember? Our customer Oscar from Spain greeted us with this Jconcepts bodied FTX Outback with real rust used in body! Now if there is something that I love is rust in builds. It is actually not very easy to make look realistic but Oscar has done some great cripsy paintwork here. Thanks Oscar, this looks just like the off road truck should look like!

We love your RC builds so please keep sending your pictures! Everything is saved and maybe I will pick it to next week Members Rides! Simply reply to this email directly or send them to [email protected] or share them in our social medias Facebook or Instagram!

Yours truly and see you again next week, Heikki from EuroRC
