FX Engines Product Range

FX builds nitro engines for serious RC racers across all popular racing classes. Their lineup is straightforward:

  • K303 and K502 engines for 1/8 buggy and truggy racing
  • T300 for 1/10 on-road competition
  • K301 EC as a solid entry point for newer racers.

You'll find 2-port, 3-port, and linear port designs letting you match power delivery to your driving style.

The parts selection reduces the unnecessary and focuses on what actually makes your car faster. This includes crankshafts with precise tungsten weights (77-82g) for smoother idling between 4,000-6,000 RPM, specialized cooling heads that keep operating temperatures between 107-121°C, and race-legal exhaust systems that work with your engine type, from running 2.1cc touring cars (21,000-42,000 RPM) to 3.5cc off-road applications (18,000-35,000 RPM).

Why FX Engines

FX’s advantage comes from actual technical differences in how the engines are built. The diamond-like coating (DLC) they apply to crucial moving parts reduces friction tremendously compared to standard finishes, meaning your engine maintains power longer during race day. The ceramic bearings handle temperatures up to 40°C higher than steel bearings before failing.

The precision balancing on every rotating assembly means your car isn't wasting power through vibration, giving you more consistent lap times in the 2-5 second range. Finnish engineering culture shows in the details. This ranges from the exact port timing (measured in actual degrees rather than vague "performance" claims) to the sealed combustion chambers that maintain compression between 8:1 and 9.5:1, depending on fuel type.

FX Engines FAQs

What fuel type or mix ratio is recommended for FX engines?

FX engines require 16-25% nitromethane RC fuel with 8-12% oil content, preferably using castor/synthetic blends. A common mix is 25% nitro and 9% oil. High-quality, well-filtered fuel ensures performance and longevity.

How do FX engines compare to O.S. or REDS Racing engines?

FX engines offer similar performance to O.S. and REDS Racing engines, with strong power delivery and reliability. FX focuses on consistency and build quality, while O.S. emphasizes race tuning and REDS targets peak power and throttle response.

What's the typical break-in procedure for a new FX engine?

Break in an FX engine by running 2-3 heat cycles on a rich setting, followed by 2-4 tanks at idle or low throttle. Maintain rich tuning throughout, avoid sudden revving, and gradually increase power over 8-10 tanks.

Do FX engines require special tuning for different weather conditions?

Yes, FX engines require tuning adjustments for temperature, humidity, and altitude. Lean settings suit cold, dense air; rich settings suit warm, humid weather. Regular carburetor adjustments maintain optimal performance across conditions.
